Wangari Mwangi
Wangari is a passionate psychologist with experience in counseling plus online and offline marketing, sales, event management, and operations supervision. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Pwani University and training from Waitita Computer School. Her strengths include adaptation to change in different environments, leadership and problem-solving, and an ability to work with people from diverse cultures. She is an excellent listener and communicator who seeks to achieve company goals while always striving to take on more responsibility. Wangari believes in service above self.
Wangari maintains a strong background in hospitality management–from supervisor to event organization and oversight. She currently works as a supervisor at a villa-bed and breakfast in Ukunda, Kenya, overseeing marketing, profit and sales, staff performance, and conflict resolution. In this role, Wangari is the ultimate team player, taking on what is needed. She has served in similar roles in Diani–Ukunda for two plus years.
Prior to hospitality management, Wangari was an office administrator for Conference Solutions in Kilifi, where her responsibilities included documentation (e.g., edit, proofing), bookkeeping, inventory of assets, and event management. Wangari liaised with stakeholders and partner organizations, and oversaw confidential data.
In 2018, Wangari provided counseling and education to women at Shimo La Tewa Women Prison. While there, Wangari wrote reports to state welfare departments with feedback and to document progress. Wangari’s volunteerism includes: climate action (Ocean Mamas– beach clean-ups and training); school events (Pwani University– Rotaract and Kilifi Rotary); peer counselor and fund raising for prisons (Pwani Rotaract); fund raising for persons impacted by flood and hunger; women issues (Pwani Divas league); and skill building with orphaned children (Go Impact Foundation).
